Are you thinking about using a Dedicated IP? Let us tell you a little bit about how it could benefit your game server!
Using a Dedicated IP address can be helpful in many ways. This IP address is dedicated to your Minecraft server or network or other game and you do not share it with anyone else. Your server will run on a dedicated port of your choice and also some games require a dedicated port to run properly! Some examples are listed below:
7 Days to Die: game ports (default 26900-26902) remote control (default 8080, 8081) allows web map (default 8082)
SCP: SL: 7777
Team Fortress 2: Game: 27015 SourceTV: 27020
Unturned: 27015 27016 27017 (Needs all three ports to work)
An example, In Minecraft, If you have a shared IP you may have port 25637 or 25678, Then when you connect you will need to enter your IP, example: 126.96.36.199:25637 But if you had a dedicated IP you wouldn't need to add the port at the end, This applies to most other servers.
Using your own domain?
A Dedicated IP will help! Without the use of a Dedicated IP, you will need to set up an SRV record. However, there are some Internet Service Providers that do not support the use of an SRV record, meaning some of your players could be at a loss when connecting. When you use a Dedicated IP, you can ensure that your players, as long as you set up an 'A' record, will be able to connect.
